Beware of New Year’s Resolutions ;D

Hi Everyone,

With New Year’s Eve in a few days, it is the time of year that a lot of people decide to make New Years’ Resolutions. If you don’t make these yearly resolutions here are a few examples of common New Year’s Resolutions that the majority of the population make.

1) I want to lose X# of pounds.

2) I want to save more money.

3) I want to make more money.

4) I want a better job.

Now these New Years’ Resolutions may sound very simple or harmless. Don’t let that fool you. One thing a lot of people don’t recognize is that their wording may just get them what they want, just not the way they wanted. This is what I mean.

1) I want to lose X# of pounds can be done in a healthy way via diet, exercise etc. OR weight can be lost due to an illness, accident or stress.

2) I want to save more money can be done by financial discipline whether or not it is out of necessity. Few People want to save more money because they HAVE to. That’s like having a job you hate.

3) I want to make more money can be done in a myriad of ways. Some of those ways are easily done and you don’t have to go to work to do it. You just have to get creative. Clip coupons, hang your clothes out to dry, stop throwing out food. Get the idea? Just don’t let any of your “more-money-making,” affect your health if you chose to buy inexpensive food etc.

4) I want a better job can be achieved but it may cost you more in time for your commute, energy because it is draining and stressful which could affect your happiness and/or relationships etc. than what you have now.

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get what you want, is a saying that most of us have heard. Mother Teresa had a similar saying and it goes like this, “More tears are shed on answered prayers, than unanswered ones.”

Remember, wording counts.

Happy New Year and thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
