There are 46 million Americans on food stamps. Over 40% of those people have children and over 20% of those children are disabled. That is scary because there are just over 310 million Americans and not all of them live in the States.
It is estimated that there was a 14% increase of Americans using food stamps since 2009. And the food insecurity is said to increase with a new round of cuts.
Interestingly, $1 of food stamp equals $1.70 in GDP. Maybe is it is good thing that Americans throw out about 40% of their food every year.
