Hi Everyone,
Happy Monday! Before anyone thinks that today’s blog is going to be nice and light think again. There’s your head’s up. Here’s today’s blog.
The first thing I have to say is that I’ve had this blog on my mind for a while. I must have written it seven ways from Sunday seven times. I am serious. Last Saturday all I thought I had to do was tweak it but I was wrong. I didn’t realize that until a few hours later though. This is why.
After I wrote this blog, I worked on something else, than decided to research something to relax. Big mistake! Not only did I unexpectedly learn something, I also knew I had to change this blog. I decided to do that on Sunday morning. I needed some time to shake my new unexpected knowledge. It wasn’t fun.
On a lighter note, I would like to say that I truly enjoy being by myself, you know alone. When the power was out during the ice storm I was in heaven. I thought it was great! I read, wrote and read some more. I enjoyed myself. This confuses and/or concerns people. I am a writer. Writers read. Writers write. Writers need to be alone. They need time to think. According to more accidental research from the other day, writers also think differently. They like to defy the status-quo. Personally, I hate putting up with bull shit. It’s a waste of time.
Since I understand that some people may be concerned, I let someone stop by recently. It’s nice, good for me to have company once in a while. What is not good for me is this.
I decided to call someone to wish them a happy new year. They sounded concerned. They were fishing. I didn’t like either. Right after I thought both were interesting, I thought they seriously needed their head read! Then I knew I had to get off the telephone before I needed some serious therapy too! After all, they are behind some of my trust issues. Their chosen behaviour is the reason I only call them a few times a year. All of those thoughts were before Saturday night.
By the time I finished reading that chapter, I had a better idea of how damaging they have chosen to be to me and the people in my life. It’s no mystery to me why I don’t see them. Unfortunately to them and others, the mystery remains unsolved.
So am I a loner? I may be to some. To most, I am a private person. I don’t just let anyone into my life because they have a pulse! Do you? Exactly! Each of us has boundaries, standards. To some I am picky to others I may not be picky enough. I am not them. I am me.
I am picky, mindful of whom I allow into my life. That decreases the number of people I will allow in it but, I am okay with that. I know myself. I am telling you this because I really don’t think a lot of people do. For anyone who doesn’t know what I mean, keep reading.
If you keep bouncing from one relationship to the next with little success, you may want to invest some alone time in yourself and figure out why. I worked with a woman who was divorced 4 times and she was under 35. She couldn’t understand why. She was the common denominator. Enough said.
If the last thing you need is to shop until you drop, but you can’t seem to restrain yourself, there’s a reason. Some people would say you are filling the emptiness you feel with shopping. Suze Orman has a saying. It is, “When people feel less than, they spend more than”. When people feel less than, it generally means they are lonely. That is why salespeople are trained to give people lots of attention while they drain their wallets. I’ve been in sales for years few of them really care about their customers. Don’t believe me if you want, but it’s true.
If you get bored easily, then according to a saying, “If you are bored, you are boring.” Think about that. Don’t shoot me. I’m the messenger of a well known saying. But hey, if you are bored, look it up if you want. I am serious. Maybe later you’ll want to hangout with yourself for more than 30 seconds.
Socrates said, “An unexamined life is not worth living.” I think he’s right. Here is how one website defined the above saying, “The unexamined life is not worth living is a popular quote from Socrates. The philosopher felt that humans should look within to get the true value of life. He also stressed the importance of happiness, self achievement and fulfilling goals without hurting yourself or others. A person, who cannot find inner happiness or gain value, is living a life that is not worth living.” In my opinion, some people should be made to have lengthily time-outs facing the wall with only their thoughts for self-examination. After all, every one of us is in a relationship with ourselves.
Tomorrow’s blog isn’t any kinder. But then considering how I felt about that toxic person this morning, this blog is full of sugar and spice and all things nice. Who knows what tomorrow morning will bring. There’s your head’s up.
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant!
