Some People’s Children!

Hi Everyone,

A few days ago my Internet started getting really slow. This morning it stopped working. Since everything on my to-do list revolved around my using the Internet, let’s just say I did not have a good start to my day.

As soon as I discovered that my Internet wasn’t working I did the usual. I unplugged, replugged, all of the required whatever they’re called etc. a few times before I called my Internet service provider. We did the above. Still nothing worked. They told me to call the technical support company that I use. We did the above and more before they told me that there was nothing at their end and to call the Internet service provider back.

By then I didn’t know who to trust. All I cared about was getting my Internet up and running. Because that wasn’t happening, my mind started going in directions that it normally stays away from. This is what I mean.

I started thinking, “Why is this happening?”, “How long is this going to take?”, “My whole day is shot!”, “I can’t believe they can’t fix this sooner. Forty-eight hours? Are they kidding me?!?”, “The whole city can’t be without the Internet. I’m going to call the library!”

“Why does so and so believe that lie? That’s right, they’re an idiot!”, “How dare so and so think I believe that! They’re an idiot for thinking I’m idiot!”, “Why didn’t they tell me that?!?”, “The next time someone tells me how something  doesn’t affect them, I’m going to tell them EXACTLY how it does affect them!” There is a bit more but you get the picture.

I decided to stop my emotional and mental tangent by calling the library. Their Internet is working. Then I went knocking on a few doors in my apartment building. Their Internet worked and we have the same provider. I know this because I asked them.

I call back my Internet provider and tell them that all my neighbours Internet is working and they use them. The back-pedaling from my Internet provider started. This started a whole other round of questions in my head.

I call my favourite aunt. That started another round of questions. Before I called my favourite cousin I remembered a saying he says. It is, “People will only drive you as crazy as you let them.” Even though I couldn’t get a hold of him, I got a hold of my emotions and more importantly my mind.  🙂

Some of the housework I was going to do on the weekend was started. I blared some of my favourite music. I found some talk shows to listen to. I was getting back to my day. Then the whole Lance Armstrong thing was all over the news.

Talk about Some People’s Children! The football, Manti Te’o thing was right after the Lance thing. Again, talk about Some People’s Children but it is a bit hard to beat Lance Armstrong. In my books, he has a gold medal all right and it’s for Some People’s Children!

The woman from upstairs knocked on my door for the second time today.  The first time was when I was on the phone and I hollered from my desk for whomever to come back.

I let her in the second time she knocked and she INSPECTED every inch of my apartment. Not cool. But I kept my cool as I periodically watched her INSPECT away. Let’s just say, she was in my apartment for far less time than she expected.

So yes, Some People’s Children can drive me crazy, but only as crazy as I allow them to. ;D

There are so many examples that I could share with you, (some of them are REALLY good),  but now that my Internet is working, I have a lot of catching up to do.

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
