Are You Ready For May 2-4?

Hi Everyone,

This blog is a reminder that May 2-4 aka, Victoria Day, is this weekend. And yes I know that today is Thursday May 16th which doesn’t add up to May 2-4 being this weekend but it is. Whatever the third Friday in May is, is the being of our long-weekend.

Every long-weekend that I know of consists of food, fun and in most cases, alcohol. If alcohol is something that is part of your long-weekend start stocking up now because the LCBO could be on strike. (For anyone who doesn’t know the LCBO stands for the Liquor Control Board of Ontario.)

I don’t know if the LCBO has ever been on strike before a long-weekend but there is always a first time for everything. Hopefully this won’t be it, but if it is, get to the store now!

And not just the liquor store, every store that may have what you need. Monday is the holiday and there will only be a few stores open. Grocery stores, shopping malls, stores in strip malls and the Beer Store and, if they are not on strike, the liquor store will be closed too. The Toronto Eaton Centre is only closed two days a year, so that will be open for anyone who is interested.

Some things to also remember is that ALL public transit will be on a holiday schedule. That means that public transit will still be running on Monday, but it will use their Sunday times. If I was to take public transit I would call first or check their website.

Checking the weather would also come in handy. I always have an umbrella with me because the weather has a mind of its own. With that said, it never hurts to bring some extra warm clothing if you are camping, at a cottage etc. It never hurts to be prepared.

Here is a link for an interview from last night’s Agenda with Steve Paikin. It is called, A Strike at the LCBO? with Warren “Smokey” Thomas who represents the union workers of the LCBO.

Thank you for reading A. Rebel’s Rant and have a great long May 2-4 aka Victoria Day weekend everyone! ;D
