Book: Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking

Hi Everyone,

With the end of 2017 in sight, some of us make New Year’s resolutions. If you, or someone you know, has the resolution to quit smoking, I highly recommend, Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking, by Allen Carr. This is what I mean.

It was either 2010 or 2011 when I saw this book sitting on a table at the Word on the Street Book Fair in Toronto. After reading the title, I glanced at the price and continued walking. A few days later someone said they became a non-smoker from reading the book. Then I saw or heard about, Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking, every couple of days until I didn’t. And then the book would enter my life again in the same manner as above for years until I bought and read it in December 2015. For anyone who is interested, I became a non-smoker about a week before Christmas. I also became a smoker on Christmas Day.

Okay for anyone who is thinking why is Anna highly recommending this book please keep reading.

Ellen DeGeneres is on the front cover of the Canadian edition stating, “Everyone who reads this book stops and I stopped.” Other famous people who endorse this book are, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Aston Kutcher. And every time I meet someone who has read this book has stopped smoking too. The mistake that I made was in my judgement. There is a part in the book that says, “If you don’t think you are ready to stop smoking, stop reading here and begin the book again.” I didn’t do that because thought I had the whole non-smoking thing figured out. Oh and I would like to say that one of the requirements of the book is to follow ALL of the instructions. One of the instructions is to smoke while reading. I am serious. You smoke the whole time you are reading the book. That may sound strange but it works.

What doesn’t work is going cold turkey. I know because that is how I have quit several times in the past. Nicotine gum, the Patch or Champix have such low success rates that they are useless. If you don’t believe me ask anyone who has tried them. One famous author is, as he says, “addicted to Nicotine gum,” to the point that he spends more money on Nicotine gum then he ever did on cigarettes per month! Don’t waste any of your money or time on any smoking cessation. If an organization offers you some for free, don’t take them. Just read, Allen Carr’s Easy Way To Stop Smoking, book. I am serious.

After Christmas and New Year’s I would look at the book. Some days I would flip through some pages and read a paragraph or two. Then in February 2016 I read, Allen Carr’s, Easy Way To Stop Smoking. That was the second time and read it again a few days later. I smoked my last cigarette in March 2016 and have remained an ex-smoker since. And the strange thing is, I have actually forgotten that I used to smoke. I am serious. There have been countless times that I have had to remind myself that I used to smoke. The book is great!

On a side note, if you ever hear of people losing one or both of their legs to smoking and don’t believe it can happen, it can. Late last year, I met a woman who lost both of her legs because she smoked. She is miserable every day and I avoid her as much as possible. Another younger woman who I met earlier last year lost one leg.  Leg amputations are so common that they are done in less than 6 hours. It is likened to sawing a log. It can take longer to (skin) graft the leg then amputating it. Just saying.

Happy New Year Everyone. If you live in Toronto, stay warm!

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant!  ;D
