Hi Everyone,
We can never run out of first world problems. This is what I mean.
Have you ever looked at someone’s life and noticed that on the surface everything looks great and wonder why that person isn’t happy or always has a trivial issue or two? Over my lifetime, I have known people who, in my opinion, find reasons to be unhappy. Since I have always had pressing first world problems of my own, I stopped giving those people much thought. It wasn’t until I read, The Sublte Art of Not Giving a F*CK, by Mark Manson, that I was reminded of them.
In it Mark says, “I once heard an artist say that when a person has no problems, the mind automatically finds a way to invent some…. ‘life problems’ are really just side effects of not having anything more important to worry about.” I agree with what I have quoted. And the reason for this is that there is, IMHO, a certain amount of guilt that comes with not having anything to worry about when other people have legitimate concerns. And then we cannot forget that people get bored with their lives too.
Instead of picking away at their brains for something creative or beneficial for society, they nit pick away at the smallest inconvenience. The worst part is if they can’t find something in their lives to concern themselves with, they may find something in mine or yours!
So-and-so doesn’t call as often as they would like so we hear about it. The living room, which looks fantastic, needs to be redecorated, so we hear about that too. And we cannot forget that if we can’t escape them, we will hear all about how the redecorating is or isn’t going. Selfies are taken more times than they need to be and not one is posted. There isn’t a thing to wear in closets the size of apartments. The dog needs botox and is on a waiting list. And yes, you read that correctly.
I could go on but I won’t.
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
