Hi Everyone,
The fast-fashion clothing store, H&M, has a great program called, Close The Loop, yet not everyone has access to it. This is what I mean.
For anyone who doesn’t know, H&M has been offering the Close The Loop program since 2013. The program is quite simple. Collect a (grocery) bag worth of textiles and get a $5 coupon towards your next (pre-tax) purchase of $30 or more. In the past I have dropped off stained or torn towels, bedding, and of course clothes. you know anything you can’t donate. And the best thing is that H&M accepts clothes or well textiles from ANY brand name, so any store. I thought this highly promoted program would be available anywhere there is an H&M store but apparently not.
While in Hungary earlier this year, I asked one of my cousins if their local H&M offered the same, or similar, clothing program that we in Canada have. The answer was a disappointing no. I don’t understand this. Shouldn’t all H&M stores offer the same, or similar, program? We are trying to save the planet right? If it is not profitable for H&M to offer a $5 coupon for every bag of textiles, then maybe they could offer Hungarians another kind of coupon of some sort.
Geographically Hungary is kind of in the centre of Europe. The distribution costs can’t be that much. So why doesn’t H&M Close The Loop for Hungarians? Are there other countries that also aren’t included? H&M, in my opinion, does not lack creativity. Surely they can come up with something. Or maybe I am missing something? Is it that it is just easier to not include certain countries? H&M certainly does not change any of their products. I could have bought the same handbag in Hungary as I would have at the Eaton Centre in Toronto. I just don’t get it. If anyone knows please leave me a comment. ;D
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
