Do My Blogs Hit A Nerve?

Hi Everyone,

I know my blogs have hit a nerve or two. This is what I mean.

For years I have had a certain number of people follow my blog via my RSS feed. I am telling you this because that number has decreased. At the same time I have had some of the same people unfollow me on Twitter. Discovering those two things hurt my feelings for about 2 minutes. This is why.

One of the reasons I created my blog, A. Rebel’s Rant, was to write about things that angered me. For anyone who doesn’t know, or has forgotten, the word rant is defined as, 1) to talk in a noisy, exicted or declamatory manner, or 2) to scold vehemently. If you don’t believe me, check the online version of Mirriam-Webster dictionary.

The other reason I began my blog was to practice writing. Granted I got a lot of practice in when I first started blogging way back in November 2012. Back then I used to blog about 4-6 times a week. I had more time. Now I am finding, creating more time. So yes, I intend to blog more. And more blogs will most likely mean that the topics I choose to write about will hit more nerves. For the record, I am not bothered. As far as I am concerned my readership is like a surfer on a wave.

Just as a surfer finds a wave, I will get readers. When the surfer falls off the wave, I will lose readers. As the surfer finds another wave, I will find other readers. With more practice the surfer will catch larger, stronger waves. I will find a larger, stronger following of like-minded people. Hopefully if my blogs hit one or more nerves with them, they will think of why they began following me in the first place and move out of their comfort zone to explore the topic I am blogging about.

But here’s the thing. Most of the topics I blog about are already being written about. My blogs are based on real life. You know the stuff you read in newspapers, or in magazine articles. If you can’t handle real life, just what can you handle? Never mind, that is for another blog. Which I am sure will hit one or more nerves.

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant!  ;D
