Hi Everyone,
Each of us has a Robot, Monkey and Sage Brain. This is what I mean.
A couple of weeks ago, one of the women I was speaking with mentioned the Robot Brain, the Monkey Brain and the Sage Brain. Wanting to be part of the conversation, I said, “The Robot Brain is when we do things automatically, without thinking, or much thought. Like have a shower. To me the Monkey Brain is when we stop our lives for shiny things, gossip or just plain stupidity. Like when one of my former BG agents in November of 2015, asked me if I was seeing someone. When I said no, he asked me if I knew who my daughter’s father was. When I said yes, he then asked me if my daughter knew who her father was. When I answered yes, he then asked me if my daughter had ever met her father. Again I answered yes. And it’s like I had to answer him. I mean I was standing in the vestibule of his house, picking up a pay. It’s not like I had much choice. Even after I answered him, he repeated some questions! ”
If the above souds out of line, it is! Not only is my personal life, provided it doesn’t interfer with my job, none of my BG agents’ business, he had no business asking me about my daughter’s father! Those were pretty pointed questions. And he asked some of them more than once! Maybe he doesn’t know who his father is.
One of the women said, “Someone told him to ask.” My response was, “Okay, but why? And why would he, or anyone go along with that? Don’t people have a Sage Brain and think for themselves? Question things? It’s not the first time he’s asked me if I was dating someone. Why would a married man care if I am dating someone? That’s effing weird! And none of his business. Like really? Who does that? Oh and I forgot, there was someone in the kitchen cutting stuff and using the blender. Anyway, I was living in the Studio District at the time and told one of the people I was living with, and she thought my former agent’s behaviour was waaaayyyy out of line too. Because it was. Anyway, just before my operation in March 2016, I told him I had an issuse with his assistant and he said, ‘I’ve heard that from a few people,’ and he told me to talk to her.”
After a bit of research, it turns out the Robot, Monkey and Sage Brain are a little different than I thought. The Robot Brain does whatever it takes to protect you. If you have a fear of trying something new the Robot Brain will stop you from trying. The Robot Brain reacts without thinking of the consequences of our actions. The Monkey Brain does stop for shiny things, gossip, and just plain stupidity, and anything else that will distract us from what we are supposed to be doing. The Sage Brain is the one that tries to keep us on track, to move us forward, to git ‘er done. The Sage Brain is wise. The others are children.
My advice is to listen to your Sage Brain. By getting things done, you won’t have time to stop for shiny things, gossip or just plain stupidity and you will face your fears.
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
