Dog Dazed

Hi Everyone,

The title of this blog is the name of last week’s episode of Doc Zone. It is a weekly documentary. The reason I have decided to blog about this is to show one way in which people can get more than a little bit obsessive, their lack of accountability, and the repercussions.

Before I get into this blog, here’s the link to the Doc Zone episode. It is 45:12 minutes in length.

Now just so everyone knows, I, like a lot of people, am not really a pet person who is okay admitting that. I did however, allow my daughter to have two cats ONLY because she spent so much time alone while I was raising her and I wanted her to have some sort of company. Cats are lower maintenance than dogs of any size and I simply could not take on the responsibility of a dog. So I completely understand when people want one or more pets. I also understand why people have dogs as pets and why dogs are called man’s best friend. What I don’t understand is why some people don’t understand why not everyone is a dog, pet or whatever person.

My second favourite aunt would always say, “Everyone is different,” and she was right, God bless her soul. Everyone is. Being different is supposed to be a good thing right? Not according to some people, pet people, dog people take the love of their pet to a whole new level.

I don’t know about anyone reading, but I’m not really into being jumped on by one or more dogs when I enter someone’s home. This is especially true if the dog weighs more than I do. The way I see it is, you invited me over, I agreed but I told you I have a bit of an aversion to dogs, let’s respect each other while having a good time. One would think that would work, but I’ve had some instances where it just hasn’t.

Dogs of all sizes and breeds have jumped on me while the door is still being opened. Not a great start. So I have a question. Since a lot of people consider dogs to be part of their family that you haven’t met, would like a stranger jumping on you? Now what if they don’t have a dog? Would you like it if their one of more children, who you’ve never met jump on you? Probably not. See how that is the same difference? Now let’s say I’m walking in the park and a dog is illegally off-leash, the owner is somewhere, and the dog approaches me. I’m not going to like it, no matter how much you like or love your dog and tell me how safe it is. I, like other people can feel threatened by dogs we don’t know. It’s that simple.

If people want to have pets, go ahead. Really. If you can afford them, take proper care of them and are going to be responsible, meaning, in this case, picking up their poop. I see a lot of dog poop around my apartment building and I don’t like it. Another thing I don’t like is when apartments in this building are TOTALLY destroyed by pets, or dogs, of former tenants.

Would I date someone with one or more dogs? It depends. I guess the bottom line is how the one or more dogs and I get along. But I will say this, I am of the belief that dogs don’t belong on the bed at all.

If you decided to watch Doc Zone and read between the lines, you will know that it and this blog mean so much more.
