Hi Everyone,
There are many ways to define wealth. The poor and the working poor know that they are poor and working poor. When people earn a living above the poverty level, live in a decent neighbourhood, have one or more cars, don’t have to worry about food, or clothing themselves etc, they know they are part of the middle class.
People making $250,000 or more, are generally classified as rich. High Net Worth Individuals, those having assets, (not including their homes) of over $10 million dollars and Ultra – High Net Individuals, those having assets, (not including their homes) of over $30 million dollars are rich to a lot of us. BUT a growing number of them don’t feel rich.
In fact, I know of one High Net Worth Individual who tells anyone who will listen, that they are poor. They say it a lot even though they know that they are not poor when they compare their life to people in income brackets slightly to far below theirs. But when they compare their life to that of the people they associate with or aspire to associate with, they are poor. Those people have A LOT of money.
There is a certain mentality that goes with wealth and that mentality can go one of two ways. Some people no matter how much money they have think that they are poor. In some ways their mentality, and the behaviour that goes along with that, does make them poor. Other people in their same, higher or lower income brackets enjoy what they have, share some of their wealth by donating their time and/or money to charities. They just do their thing, help others along the way, and they have a healthier, more balanced mind set.
Personally, I will always chose my physical, emotional and mental health over financial wealth. Without those elements of health, it doesn’t matter how much money a person has. This is what I mean.
There is at least one middle aged billionaire somewhere, who is lying on his or her death bed right now who wishes they could buy more time but just can’t. There is a billionaire or someone who is going to inherit a lot of money with a needle stuck in their arm as you are reading this.
Howard Hughes was VERY wealthy and he had so many phobias that he couldn’t leave his living space. (Sorry, I forgot if he died in a hotel or one of his homes.) The list goes on.
Since the definition of wealth varies with each society of two or more people, here is a link to last nights episode of The Agenda, titled, Wealth is in the Eye of the Beholder,
