Hi Everyone,
I, like the majority of the world, have been following the story of the Boston Bombers. I will admit that at one point I did try to avoid it. Since it was on every channel, I had a very low success rate.
In an effort to avoid this topic, I channel-surfed, a lot. From that I found some interesting information. This is what I mean.
On Monday April 15, 2013, the day of the bombing, one of the racers said that he noticed 2 young men. Both were wearing baseball caps, (one black the other white) carrying knapsacks and one looked him straight in the eye. That racer later told authorities, “… find them! They did it!” The search began.
Well, I look people in the eye all the time. Sometimes my eyes lock with strangers. When that happens we, meaning me and the other person, look away.
Both of the young men were known to speak Russian. I am not surprised by that. They lived in Chechnya which is beside Russia and they lived in Dagestan which were both under Russian rule and are now part of the post-Soviet Russian Federation. Of course they are going to speak Russian.
Just like Canadians learn French in school, my parents had to learn to speak Russian when Russia took over Hungary after WWII. And many of my relatives speak German. This is partly because Hungary borders Austria and Hungary and Austria were, up until WWI, part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
The other part is that at some point, either Germany or Austria, (sorry history is not one of my favourite subjects) insisted on populating Hungary so one of the above countries sent/exiled some of their citizens there.
Unfortunately for the 2 brothers, the majority of Dagestan residents belong to a predominantly Muslim ethnic group called the Avars. That of course does not work in their favour even though it has never been reported that they, or any of their family members belonged to Avars or any other group. But if the reports are correct, and they have been living in America for about 10 years, one of the brothers would have been 16 and the other 9 when they arrived.
Much has been said about their travelling to and from Russia or parts of the post-Soviet Russian Federation for periods of up to 6 months. In fact, both of their parents are not in America at the time of the bombing. As a member of the European Union, I find this to be very normal. In order to maintain citizenship some countries REQUIRE people by law to spend X# of days within a country that they have citizenship with or they will lose their citizenship. That is probably one reason why both of the parents are out of the country.
A few of my relatives hop countries ALL the time. Some live and work in countries other than Hungary, travel back and forth and take their holidays wherever they want. It is normal.
One of the aunts, of the suspected bombers, who lives in Toronto, has said that her nephews were good kids and she wants to see video of them leaving their knap-sacks. Coming from a country where governments have given good reason for their citizens to be suspicious of them I understand that.
I mean, it does seem a bit odd that they never left Boston. On Wednesday night, one of them went and stayed in his dorm, of which he was awarded a scholarship to. And the only person who seems to have anything negative to say about the young men is their uncle.
All of their teachers, principals, classmates and friends have spoken highly of them. Some of the interviewers where asking some pretty personal questions. After a listening to one interview, I thought the interviewer was going ask how many times the interviewee went to the bathroom!
It is said that the oldest brother had been investigated by the FBI about 5 years ago because a foreign government told the FBI that they, (that unknown government) had reason to believe that the brother might be up to something. Apparently, the FBI didn’t find anything but was “keeping an eye on him,” via his Face Book and other Internet movements.
On one of the older brothers’ Internet movements, he says that he doesn’t have any American friends. I understand that. He may have had close acquaintances, but not what he would consider friends, true friends. I have more true friends in Europe than I do here. Here I have acquaintances, some are closer than others. How many friends or close friends do you have?
So what was the motive for the bombing? I don’t know. No one does. As I mentioned above, it does seem a bit odd that the brothers didn’t leave Boston. Yes, sometimes it is easier to hide in plain sight, but when people do that, they usually have a back-up plan, or Plan B.
Their Plan B might have been to hijack a car and rob the owner. And yes, I do know that the owner of the car said, “They told me they were the Boston Bombers.” Do criminals do that, state their crime to complete strangers knowing full well, that the person they are committing another crime against is going to go straight to the authorities? I don’t know that either.
But I do know this. One young man is dead, and his brother is dying in a hospital that is also caring for some of the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing on Monday.
Is this a rant? Only time will tell.
For anyone who is interested I posted a blog called, BBC Modern Spies Links (Parts 1 and 2). Here is the link for that blog, http://arebelsrant.com/bbc-modern-spies-links-parts-1-2/
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
