Why Is This The World We Live In?

Hi Everyone,

Life is full of ups and downs with questions and hopefully answers. This is what I mean.

This morning as I was waiting for my coffee a guy in line, behind me, was complaining and complaining about his wait. After his comments were about to be justified I said, “I’ve been here lots of times and have had great service,” which is true. We waited some more. It was just one of those mornings. The guy now had everyone in line pissed off at the staff who were working their butts off.

Work was work which is always pretty good. We finished early. Yea!!       ;D

Something else negative happened yet I can’t remember. I know, I am grateful too.

Part of my physical was a visit to the nurse who gave me a needle in each arm before I went for my blood test. Her instructions were, “Go across the hall, and after they take your blood, come back here to rest before you go home.” I looked at her and asked, “Do I get juice and a snack to build up my strength like the drug users do at the Overdose Prevention Sites?” She said no. I told her that was unfair. They get free snacks, I don’t. They get free needles and alcoholic swabs when people with diabetes don’t. What is more important? Okay snacks aside, if people using illegal drugs are getting free needles, alcoholic swabs and touriquets all packed up for them, I think people with diabetes should get their (legal) medical supples for free too. Just for the record, I am diabetes free.

Once I was directed into the room for my blood test and told to wait, I noticed that there were A LOT of sweat stains on the extra large blue plactic-like seat. It was clear that whoever sat there before had placed their arms on the arm rests and left a HUGE ASS SWEAT MARK!! Not only was it gross, it was unsanitary!! I sanitized it myself before telling the female taking my blood. By the way she responded, she thought I was a joke, hysterical. I was so pissed off, I told the receptionist. I mean really, would you want to sit in someone’s ASS SWEAT while giving blood? The temperatures are below seasonal and the office is air conditioned. Whoever was in that room before me, was SERIOUSLY SWEATING!!

As I was walking on the sidewalk, I stepped around a large gift a dog owner left for everyone. If that dog owner is also a parent, society had better buckle up.

Just as I was finished writing this blog (in my head) there was BREAKING NEWS that there was a shooting at Yorkdale Shopping Mall. Yorkdale? If the shooting happened at the Oshawa Centre or the Scarborough Town Centre, I could believe it, there are all kinds of gangs in those areas. But Yorkdale? What happened? Was there a problem with the valet parking? Did someone forget their Black Amex? Or was the shooting over something as common as jealousy? Who knows? Maybe we never will.

The world we live is like this because people are people. There is good, bad and evil in each of us and some of us take our responsibilites more seriously than others. The guy this morning wanted his coffee. I wanted mine too. I also want people to recognize that people with diabetes do have to pay for all of their medical supplies, you know the ones that keep them alive while people who uses illegal drugs get all of their needs met for free. And yes that includes snacks. But this is the world we live in.

I could go on but I won’t.
