Hi Everyone,
For anyone who doesn’t already know, there is going to be HUGE book fair taking place on Sunday September 27 at The Harbourfront Centre between 11am-6pm. So yes, for anyone who has gone years before, the times are the same but there has been a change in location. The new Harbourfront Centre location will have booths indoors and outdoors, which is always helpful if it rains. If you, or someone you know loves reading, and purchasing books and magazines on the cheap, there is something for everyone in every age group. This is what I mean.
I have been going to Word on the Street for almost 10 years. And I love it!! I am serious. For one, free things are freely given. Sure once a year, I may give out my email address to get something for free that has a string attached, but hey, we’re all human right?
But the thing I love the most about Word on the Street is that there is such a variety of books and magazines being sold at rock bottom prices!! At the end of the day, some big name publishers will sell brand new hardcovers and trade paperbacks for $1 each!! I load up on books every year and bargain a bit too. (Okay, I always bargain so that was an average day for me.) Three, or was it four years ago, I even purchased a HUGE laminated map of the world for $5!! Actually, I found that map in the children’s section and put that map again just the other day. I told you there is something for everyone! And the children’s section is almost as large as the adult’s is.
I have purchased so many books at Word on the Street that there are a few I haven’t read from last year and one, (or two) from the year before. This is very common for me, and other avid readers, by the way. For reasons we never understand, we keep adding to our collection of unread books until one title grabs our attention. It’s kind of like smelling food and realizing you are hungry.
Anytime I am at Word on the Street, not only do I feed my reading habits, I also eat a lot! There are so many different types of food to choose from, that I just stop walking and eat the closest thing because it would take me forever to decide.
One thing I forgot to mention is that there are all kinds of workshops, which they call Word Shops. There are also authors who do book signings, read parts of their book(s) and all kinds of promotions. Again, if you or someone you know loves books and magazines, mention Word on the Street to them. I highly recommend it!
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
