Hi Everyone,
I only take the TTC when I have to. This is what I mean.
Yesterday I was all over Toronto. Commuting on the TTC can stress just about anyone out. Every time I hear someone on the TTC subway saying things like, “It’s so crowded,” when it isn’t, or, “I couldn’t do this every day,” as they look around like every thing is a new shiny thing I bury my head in my reading to stop me from screaming, “Tourist!” or “Country Mouse!” That was the beginning of my long day.
Now couple doing a million things with unhappy complaining people and with people who are happily singing away because they were sipping the sauce, with every one else in between, you know like the people who open their coffee and spray their beverage on the pages I am reading, I called it quits. I just could not get on the TTC one more time.
Once at my final destination I decided to walk home. It was a long cold walk. But really what is more important? Walking in cold weather so I can keep my sanity and enjoy the pit stops along the way? Or being on a crowded TTC subway at rush hour, so I can then later wait on a cold sidewalk for an already crowded streetcar to show up at its convenience? Exactly!!
For anyone who is interested, I snapped a picture that I will post on Instagram, bought something for my dad, got a free book from someone who was handing them out, I bought $10.19 worth of pumpkin seeds minus $3 because I used my Bulk Barn coupon and I stopped off at a ladies’ room because it was cold.
Any time I did not like my route, I changed it. If I wanted to explore side streets or a store I did. That is one great thing about walking around. Not only do you control what you do and when, you get to see and live life.
Sitting, if you are lucky, on a subway or streetcar, is a rarity. Taking the TTC just doesn’t do it for me. Most times there are too many transfers, which really means too much room for error, and it takes about the same amount of time with a lot of mental and emotional hardships.
Feel free to take the TTC if you want, I think I will walk.
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
