Hi Everyone,
I believe that life leads us to where we need to go. All we have to do is be open-minded and follow life’s lead. This is what I mean.
1) On December 2, 2012 I posted a blog called, Researching Blogs. (Here is the link, http://arebelsrant.com/researching-blogs/.) That lead me
2) To post a blog on December 4, 2012 named, Opposite ;D about a book titled, People Are Idiots And I Can Prove It, by Larry Winget. (Here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/opposite-d/)
3) Then on December 7, 2012 I posted a blog called, Book: People Are Idiots and I Can Prove It, stating that if I could add one thing to Larry’s list I would. (Here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/book-people-are-idiots-and-i-can-prove-it/)
Now one thing that I didn’t mention was that I wrote the title of another book on the inside cover of that book. I meant to read it years ago, forgot about it yet heard about it a few months ago on a YouTube video and again forgot about it.
The book is, Feel The Fear … And Do It Anyway. The subtitle is, Dynamic Techniques For Turning Fear, Indecision, And Anger Into Power, Action And Love, by Susan Jeffers, Ph.D.
I have 3 fears. One that I have known about my whole life yet doesn’t affect my everyday life. And it is not something girlie like being afraid of spiders, bugs or snakes. I kill those things without batting an eye lash! Not very feminine I know. But if I met someone worthy of my screaming like a little girl, I am sure that I will point my finger and scream so he can protect me from whatever. ;D Anyway…
My other 2 fears have been with me for years, have affected my daily life in a negative way and at times are stronger some days than others. I am keeping all 3 to myself. ;D
4) I finally decided to read, Feel The Fear … And Do It Anyway because it was (about) time that I grew up. Or as page, xix of the introduction states, “When the student is ready, the teacher will appear.” I am the student and the teacher is the book.
5) With the holidays being around the corner I wrote a blog on December 22, 2012 called, Are You Kidding Me?!?!?!?. (Here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/are-you-kidding-me/)
6) Then after reading some more of, Feel The Fear … And Do It Anyway, I burst out laughing because part of page 161 related to, Are You Kidding Me?!?!?!? If you read the book, you will also see how page 161 relates to some of my other December blogs.
And why some of Susan’s students had a hard time with the homework she gave them. Which is one of reasons that I chose to withhold the title of the book until after the holidays. The truth hurts some people more than others.
7) While reading Feel the Fear … And Do It Anyway, I realized that I actually do a lot of things that the book suggests. Like being thankful and saying thank you. My blog on Dangerous Drivers is one example of that. (Here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/dangerous-drivers-d/) However, 2 of my fears are NOW so EMBEDDED into my being that I really need to read the book again.
I found this realization interesting since I have addressed those 2 fears in the past without fear or hesitation. In 2001 I wanted to change my life so I sold a lot of things, gave up my apartment, and moved my daughter and I to Germany and Hungary for almost a year. Our living arrangements fell through at the last minute but I did it anyway.
THAT TAKES GUTS!!!!
And get this, everything worked out better than I could have imagined and I didn’t have any of my usual safety nets in place!
If you have one or more fears or would like read Feel the Fear … And Do It Anyway, I highly recommend it.
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
