Film–Feeding The Face-2

Hi Everyone,

Today’s blog is in response to a comment left by Edward. He read the blog I posted on February 11, 2015 called, Film–Feeding The Face ;D  and mentioned a few things that can only be said in a blog. This is what I mean.

Hi Edward, (and all of my other readers 😀  )

When I finally arrived at the Gun Fire Testing I was cold, wet and I truly wanted to go home. If it weren’t for my love of film, tenacity, and curiousity getting the best of me, believe me I would have. I am so glad I didn’t. The Gun Fire Testing was amazing! As I mentioned in, Film–Feeding The Face  😀  I was the only non-production person there and it was very exciting!

In total there were three gun fire tests. For the first one, I stood where the Locations person asked me to. It was on the sidewalk of a side street behind one of my favourite places. Patrons were also watching. Some of them were annoyed for the first test. Little did they know it was a warm up.

For the second test, I stood in the street, dead-centre. The Locations person and I looked at each other. He gave me the “okay”  with a smile and a nod. I got more than a better view. I got chills! The gun fire was SO intense! With my standing over  200 metres away, I could feel every bullet being shot into the ground! Both of my legs began to shake and my ears were bleeding from the sound of five “machine guns” being fired at the same time. I covered my ears but it took a good 3-4 minutes after the test for my legs to recover. It was amazing! It was crazy! I’ll always remember it! Again, I am so glad I finally found it.

The third test was slightly milder than the second. There was still more gun fire than the first but the second test blew everyone and almost everything away! Again, the second test was AaMaZzing!

And that is all I have.

I don’t have a video of the gun fire testing because I never thought of taking one. I am serious. In all the years that I have been an Extra, (Back Ground Performer) I have only taken one picture of myself. It was a selfie from when I was on the TV series, Lost Girls, a few years ago. The only reason I did that was because the make-up department did a great job bloodying-up my face.

Last year the make-up department for the feature film, Bang! Bang! Baby, took a picture of me because they spent 3 hours putting hair on my face. I was a mutant. Or, as the make-up department called me, The Hair Faced Woman. The make-up people were awesome. They encouraged me to have a picture too. After I reluctantly agreed, they took several of me with my phone. It took 3 women an hour to take off the hair. They were very gentle.

People did take pictures of me smoking while I was costumed as a nun when I was on Alphas. That too was a few years ago. Some Extras still call me, “The Smoking Nun.” The other nun and I did stand by a fancy Toronto hotel men’s bathroom door with unlit cigarettes in our mouths. In one picture we are pushing our way into the men’s bathroom. Everyone had a good laugh. We were in hotel that has hundreds of rooms. We could have been anybody. That’s the difference.

The reason that I don’t take pictures while on, or around any, set is because people have a way of finding out EXACTLY who took what picture, EXACTLY when and EXACTLY where. Film people know what they are doing. They don’t need any algorithms. They just know. They live and breath the project they are working on before they get the job. They, (we) are also very protective of all of the productions we  have, or are currently working on. I love being an Extra. Taking pictures or videos would only get me blacklisted.

I think that is why the Locations person willingly shared some information with me about finding locations and how the locations department works. It  was never my intent to press him, ask him too many questions about anything. If I asked him something that I thought he could answer without disclosing information that I should not know about I asked. If the question I asked was too sensitive, he gave me a round about answer that I instantly understood.

Actually, before the first gun fire test, a passer-by asked the Locations person who was in the movie. I didn’t. He casually but politely said the actors were still undecided and that was that. The actors were chosen a long time ago. He was doing his job. He was protecting his project. I don’t, and can’t blame him. I would have done the same.

When I went to go and pick up a cheque from one of my agents I told him all about the gun fire test. He said he sent pictures to the Casting Director and mentioned an actors name. That’s all. We shared an awkward glance though.

There is one thing that I did hear while speaking to someone I haven’t mentioned in this blog. It is that TMZ will pay $50,000 for the first picture of one of the actors of this film. I know who the actor is but I am not going to say. People say a lot of things. It may not even be true, but I believe it is. 😉

I don’t have any more information. I don’t have any pictures or videos to share either. Film is one of my many passions. I am sorry everyone. And I am sorry if any of this summer’s filming is going to inconvenience anyone. Just try to remember that everyone is working on Feeding the Face. And who knows, maybe from the money we earn, we’ll be feeding your face too!  🙂

  1. Oh, thank you very much for this blog. (And sorry for my bad English). First of all I want to say that to me is more valuable to have read your experience than any picture or video.
Yes, gunfire test is not so interesting for media celebrity. But fans who are following the production of the film, it’s exciting to know what makes the entire team of “Bravo 14” (Suicide Squad). The extras are essential in any film production.
The point is that this film will show for first time some DC Comics characters we have not seen before on film.
I understand that must keep an almost complete secrecy. Nobody wants to reveal details of a production. But I also know that a photo of a general level, without grasping for something specific, it gives joy to the fans. That encourages fans; they think that the production is working, but secretly.
Your experience of the three tests are sensational. Thanks for sharing that experience.
