Hi Everyone,
As I was looking at the books on the sale table one day, a cover caught my eye. After I read the title, saw the deeply discounted price and read the subtitle, I decided to buy it. My decision didn’t make sense to me, but somehow I knew I had to read this book.
It is called, The Script, and the subtitle is, The 100% Absolutely Predictable Things Men Do When They Cheat, by Elizabeth Landers and Vicky Mainzer. Was I involved with someone who I thought was cheating on me? No. I wasn’t even remotely dating anyone at the time. So why did I buy the book?
The primary reason is that something in my gut told me to. The secondary reason is that human behaviour has always intrigued me. I knew that I was going to learn something I didn’t know before. Little did I know, just how much.
I think I stopped reading, The Script, at about page 129. There are 171 pages and the readability is quite low so it wasn’t that I couldn’t understand what I was reading. It was that I understood all too well! You see the implications in the examples in, The Script, go FAR beyond men cheating.
The Script, accurately depicts a side of society that I would rather not know about. It is hard to acknowledge just how DISPICABLE, IMMORAL and downright DISGUSTINGLY SELFISH PEOPLE can be and the lengths that they will go to in order to protect themselves at the expense of others.
Even more disturbing is how other people in their lives knowingly and repeatedly decide to protect them too! Again, always at the expense of others, including members of their own family!
Did I finish the book? Yes. After about a year I picked it up again and finished it last year. I also reread it this weekend. This is why.
Madeline Albright says, “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” Personally, I believe her!
Sir Edmund Burke said, ” Evil flourishes when good men (and women) do nothing,” and, “At times to remain silent is to lie.” I believe him too!
I HIGHLY recommend that EVERY WOMAN read, The Script. Yes the information is disturbing, BUT IT IS WORTH IT!!!
I posted a blog relating to this one titled, People Aren’t Disposable. Here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/people-arent-disposable/
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
