Hi Everyone,
Today is Monday and it’s a relaxing day. Friday wasn’t. There was too much to do. Could I have crossed a few things off my to-do list? Yes, but I didn’t. In fact I added to it solely because I wanted to see if one of my close acquaintances was available for me to speak with. The building he works in is right across the park I was walking across.
His being in his office is always hit or miss. But I thought, I’m RIGHT here, so I’m going to try. When I approached his office, I saw that his door wasn’t fully closed. Since he always fully closes and locks it when he leaves his office, I thought, “As usual, I’m in luck.”
After a couple of soft knocks, I heard, “Come in.”
I stuck my head in his door and asked smiling, “Hi, do you have time to talk for a bit?”
After a cheerful greeting he said, “Yes, but I only have a few minutes today.”
“Can I grab a chair?” He said yes, I grabbed one and we start to catch-up on our lives. Then I told him how the blog was going and asked if he wanted to see my business cards.
Always happy to see me moving forward in any one of my many directions he gave me his usual reaction of, “Yes. I’d loved to it.” As I handed him a few, he said, “They look great! Very nice Anna.” And then he immediately went to my blog site and said that it too looked great and commented on some of blog titles and content. “Now do ever find that you have a hard time finding material?”
Without hesitation, I said, “Not really.” I told him what blogs I would be writing that related to some of my past blogs and why. Since a few minutes had already passed and I knew he was busy, I didn’t tell him that I already had three blogs in my head just from the first part of my day. Instead I explained to him why I was having a hard time writing one blog in particular. “I don’t know what do you think? It’s been almost two weeks for this one.”
Since that blog is what I would consider sensitive, he gave me his honest opinion, and wished me luck because I was going to need it. That’s when his phone rang. A few seconds later there was a knock on his door. We spoke for another couple of minutes, but his phone rang again. Our “meeting” was over.
As I left, I thought about how my day was going. I still had a lot to do and I wanted to get my full blogs in my head and my notes onto something. Paper, my computer, anywhere that I could have a full copy of them. One thing I didn’t know was that the rest of my day, as busy as it was, would give me a few more blogs.
Why does writing come so easily for me? Simple. It’s my passion. I don’t think about it, I just do it. Has writing always come easily for me? No, no, NO, No, NO!!! Absolutely NOT!!!!
Actually, for the longest time I either HATED what I wrote or had what is called writer’s block. For anyone who doesn’t know, that’s when NOTHING a writer wants to write works out so they basically stare at a blank page or computer screen. It’s awful. It’s painful. It’s down-right depressing! A combination of the above can make a lot of writers give up.
BUT, BUT, when it comes to doing something, writers are just like anyone else who wants to follow their dreams, their passion. They keep at it no matter what is going on, how bad it gets, or how many times they fail. Those who don’t quit, the ones who preserver, are the ones that get rewarded with happiness in what they are doing and maybe some success. The ones that quit don’t and usually end up feeling empty, or unhappy. Seriously.
So I would like everyone reading this to know that COUNTLESS of people have “seemingly,” failed at something they are now highly successful at. Just believe in yourself, your dream. Work at it every day by learning something new even if it is small. All of those little bits of information may not seem like they matter, but they do. Just find the strength to believe in yourself and then everything will work out even better than you could have dreamed.
Here’s another thing. As long as you are willing to be open-minded, a world of opportunities will open up for you.
Failing at something can be disappointing. Here’s a link to a blog I wrote called, Dealing with Disappointment, http://arebelsrant.com/dealing-with-disappointment/ And here’s another link to a blog I wrote called, What Are You Learning? http://arebelsrant.com/what-are-you-learning/
Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
