I Love My Bed!

Hi Everyone,

So yesterday morning I woke up pretty early, lay in bed guessing the time and got up a few minutes later. Just so you know I was completely wrong with the time. Normally my guesses are pretty close, meaning about 20 minutes either way.

After I did a few things, I surveyed my apartment. Laundry by the front door, counters clean, to-do list on keyboard of laptop and the coffee table needs some help. I noticed a few other small things too but decided that I love my bed, so I was going back to it. This is highly unusual by the way but I thought it’s my life. I’m going back to bed because, well, I can, so I did. On my way, I realized something, and found a new blog to write. I grabbed a book, got back in bed, used a pile of pillows to prop myself up and looked around. I love my bed, that’s for sure, but I love my room too. My eyes slowly moved around it absorbing all the things in it that I love and I began to smile. A few minutes later, I began reading.  

At some point, I decided to put my book down and I slipped into what Deepak Chopra calls, “The Gap.” For anyone who doesn’t know who Deepak Chopra is, I suggest doing an online search because he’s a complex individual. Now, “The Gap,” is easier to describe.

Have you ever been in between being awake and being asleep, and felt so incredibly peaceful? Where your mind just allows your thoughts to float but everything makes complete sense? You almost feel like you are in a meditative or hypnotic state but you know you’re not. If that’s happened to you, that’s what’s called, “The Gap.” It’s a place between our conscious and unconscious mind, and it’s pretty cool!

“The Gap,” can last anywhere from 30 seconds to about 5 minutes or more. Once, “The Gap,” is complete, we generally fall asleep. When I wake up after being in, “The Gap,” I always feel refreshed. My mind and body are more alert. Everything in day also tends to go smoothly. Nothing really seems to bother me. I feel peaceful the whole day. Like I said, “The Gap,” is pretty cool! Especially it’s a lasting effect.

The one thing about, “The Gap,” is this, you can’t force it. It has to come naturally. There’s nothing you can do to make it happen, or start. It literally just happens. You can stop it if you want, but I don’t know anyone who has tried or would want to try. It’s great!

The first time I remembered it happening to me, I didn’t understand it. The first time my daughter remembered it happening to her was when she was in her early teens. She was confused as well. At least I could explain it to her, after of course she gave me a detailed description.

And that’s today’s blog. Not too serious and nothing to rant about because it is Sunday. Have a great day!

P.S., I know the title of this blog is a little misleading, but I didn’t feel comfortable calling it, “The Gap.” I hope everyone understands.
