Hi Everyone,
Now that one of the two legs of our holiday season is over and we’ve had time to spend with those we love, like and would love to spend less time with, I thought I would blog about gossiping again. As some of us know, gossiping can entertain the smallest minds for hours or longer, like years! When people gossip they are speaking about one or more people in a negative light.
I have always found this interesting because the people gossiping always make their lives look completely FINE. And their lives are completely FINE until we recognize that FINE is an acronym for
F ucked-up
I nsecure
N eurotic and
E motional.
And that pretty much sums up the lives of gossipers who will say or do anything to discredit one or more people.
In my experience, gossipers behave in this way because their lives are TRAIN WRECKS! And the best way for them to mask their completely Fucked-up, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional lives is to turn the focus onto others.
That is the first benefit. The second is having their listeners believe them without question and gossip for them! The third is that the gossiper can continue to willingly live in their state of denial. The truth hurts, they can’t handle it, and that’s why their lives are TRAIN WRECKS!!!!
Because gossipers don’t want to directly deal with their pain and anger, they willingly choose to direct their negative emotions to (seemingly) hurt others.
Anytime I find myself in the presence of people who gossip I ask myself the following questions.
1) What are you hiding and why?
2) How would you like it if I scratched the surface of your life and aired your dirty laundry?
3) How far down do I have to scratch? (Meaning how far down have you buried the one or more things that you are so desperately hiding.)
4) Just how many dirty little and large secrets do you have?
5) How would you feel if I designed your life and/or the life of those you care for, love, into dirty lies to suit my needs?
