Does It Pay to be Petite?

Hi Everyone,

You know, I think it might pay to be petite. This is what I mean.

One day last week I sat on a streetcar and noticed a few things. One was that there were a lot of empty seats with an equal number of people standing. Strange was the first thought that came to mind until I noticed that most of the people standing were not exactly slim. Some people were more than a little over weight and could not comfortably sit in the empty seats without sitting on the person next to them. I telling you this because I am seeing this more often. Alright before everyone thinks I am picking on people, my waist is an extra inch.

Yes, I too am gaining weight. After I quit smoking I was okay with my extra weight. Having another ten pounds to carry around wen tvirtually unnoticed. Sure some of my clothes were a bit snug. Some even had to be replaced and I was okay with it. That is until I noticed one part of my body I am not okay with. And I am becoming more not okay with it each day. It’s scary, in that insanity of vanity kind of way.

I don’t want to buy new clothes. That takes time. Working out takes time too, but I can always squeeze a few exercises in my day without having to go the gym. I like that I can fit a lot of clothes into the washer and the dryer. Gaining weight results in the opposite. And I would have less clothes that fit into my dresser too. The more clothes I have the more I can mix and match and layer.

If there was ever an emergency I could be lifted onto a stretcher and I would fit. If that sounded mean, I meant to wake a few people up. Weight gain does happen over night. It creeps up on people. A little extra cake, candy or a few extra potato chips is all it takes for some. Maybe it is that alcoholic drink that tastes so good that we forget it has as much if not more sugar than pop. Salads are great but it is the salad dressing that is killing us.

Look, I am not hear to preach to anyone about their diet. People know what is good and bad for them. Everyone who wants to know how much sugar, or how bad something is will turn to the Internet for whatever they want to know. This blog is just a reminder that we gain weight faster and easier than we lose it.  It may not pay to be petite, but it pays when we watch and control our weight.
