George and Margaret

Hi Everyone,

My daughter and I have been fans of George Stroumboulopoulos for years. And every time she needs a new book, she raids my bookcases. Since I read Margaret Atwood, an amazing Canadian author, my daughter invited me to a free (my favourite word 🙂 ) taping of George interviewing Margaret.

The taping was yesterday but it airs tonight at 7:00 on CBC in Ontario. (It might be on at a different time if you are in a different province or territory or a different country.)

In case you don’t know, most of the things we watch on TV or at the movies are filmed out of order. I know this because I am an Extra for TV shows and movies. Yesterdays taping, of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight, was no exception.

For example, the comedy piece was taped first. In between some of the pauses in taping  for commercial breaks someone asks the audience questions. That person usually gives away something for free. Once again, my favourite word. ;D

When that someone went on stage with a George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight bag, I thought, “Okay I love bags”. But when he said that there was a note book and a pen inside the bag my heart began to race. I instantly knew I was going to win it even before I heard the skill testing question. Funny enough, my daughter thought I was going to win it too.

Before the words for the skill testing question were finished being said, I shot my hand up and smiled. When the person pointed to me and described my clothing, I was so excited that I asked him if he meant me. He did. I answered correctly and I was thrilled. I won the free bag, note book and pen!

Then the person asked me a question about children. I pointed to my daughter and said,” This is my baby! Right here. She invited me here.” He looked very confused. Outside of being Caucasian, my daughter and I don’t look anything alike, so I don’t blame him for his puzzled look. But we are mother and daughter. Trust me, we were both there.

After the taping, my daughter took me out for dinner. We had a great time. The food was a bit slow, my steak wasn’t quite right, and we got free dessert because of that. Free never ends. 🙂 Then we hung out some more.

Is this a rant? Once again, it is. And once again, it’s polite. 😀

Don’t’ forget to watch George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight. For the unedited interview of Margaret Atwood, watch it online.

Thank you reading, A.Rebel’s Rant! 😀
