Happy Thanksgiving Canada!

Hi Everyone,

For anyone who doesn’t already know, or would like to forget, this weekend is when Canada celebrates Thanksgiving. Personally, I think it is a great time of year for it, because the weather generally cooperates, the leaves begin to change colours, the apples are ready to be picked and the pumpkins are out.

If anyone was wondering, yes, I do have food on my mind. That is typical as I LOVE to eat. Speaking of food, some Canadians will be having their Thanksgiving meals today while others will be having their Thanksgiving meals tomorrow. Either way, I hope that everyone enjoys themselves with lots of food, drink, love and laughter. Let’s face it, life is simply too short. But if you are planning on, or being coerced into, having a Thanksgiving meal or two with people you would rather not see, I have a few suggestions.

One is to stay away from them and hang out with other people. You could always stay away from everyone and stay at home and go to a restaurant or order food in. It’s your holiday too, so you should really decide who you would really like to share it with, even if that means being alone. Yep! I said it and I mean it too! I am serious.

There is a direct negative physiological correlation between being with people who make you feel bad about yourself versus the direct positive physiological correlation between being with people who make you feel good about yourself. I am serious. And it is a serious health issue too, for anyone who thinks I am making this up as I go along, because I am not.

But since I am not a doctor of anything, I will refer everyone to a book. The title is, Loneliness, and the subtitle is, Human Nature and the Need for Social Connection. The authors are, John T. Cacioppo and William Patrick. Before anyone decides to go out and buy this book, here’s a head’s up, not only is it very informative, (I found it fascinating) it can also be a bit of a downer. Some parts took me for what seemed forever to finish reading, but just my flipping through what I have underlined, had me thankful I bought and read it.

Seeing as we live in a world of instant gratification, and it is a holiday, I’ve included a link to Christina Aguilera’s YouTube music video, Beautiful,

And for anyone who wants to know the lyrics, here’s a link for that too,

If anyone didn’t understand what I meant in the above, I hope the Beautiful video and/or the lyrics helped. And if anyone wanted to stay away from the people who make them miserable on their holiday, then, if you wanted and/or needed a reason or permission to stay away from them, just tell them that I said you should stay at home or spend YOUR holiday with someone else other than them! I am serious. Tell whoever, I said to stay away from them and blame me if you want.

If you need some more help in this regard, here’s a link to a blog I posted on December 22, 2102. It is called, Are You Kidding Me?!?!?!?!?
