My Apartment ;D

Hi Everyone,

How do I LOVE my apartment, let me count the ways. And there are so many! This is what I mean.

One of the first reasons that I LOVE my apartment is because it is close to all of the amenities. The shopping mall is less than an eight minute walk. I’m not really a fan of shopping but since it is a necessary evil, it helps that I can get most of what I need and want done in a short period of time. The shopping mall is also where all the local buses meet. The Go Transit buses are up the street and the GO train is a $12 cab ride, including tip, if I miss the bus. On a side note, GO stands for Government of Ontario (Transit).

Across from the shopping mall is a HUGE full service grocery store. That grocery store has everything! Deli, bakery, flowers, houseplants, kitchen supplies, the ever famous Canadian Joe Fresh clothing line, a wine shop and seasonal items that includes furniture. Beside the grocery store is a HUGE hardware store, across from that, is the LCBO, otherwise known as the Liquor Control Board of Ontario. All of the above are west of my apartment. East of my apartment is the laundry mat, dry cleaners, tailor, gas station and 24 hour Mac’s Milk. Everything that I need and want is literally eight minutes away. Okay the library is a fifteen minute walk, but I don’t go there more than twice a month. Having everything close by has saved me A LOT of TIME and MONEY. I don’t need a car. Right there I’m saving money on a car, insurance, gas, maintenance and depreciation.

BUT, BUT the thing I LOVE the most about my apartment is that it is completely different than any other apartment in this building. It is ONE of a kind. You see, my apartment is half of a three bedroom apartment. And it just so happens that the half I live in is where the bedrooms used to be. So my bedroom is the former master bedroom. My galley kitchen is part of a second bedroom. The other part of the second bedroom is part of my living and dining room which is the entire first bedroom. My bathroom is big too. If I stand at my kitchen sink, I can watch TV, watch videos online if I turn my laptop because my apartment is OPEN-CONCEPT!!!  I LOVE that. (Here’s a link to a past blog called, My (Work) Day, http://arebelsrant.com/my-work-day/ )

When my daughter and her then boyfriend saw my apartment both of their jaws dropped. Neither one of them have ever seen an apartment like mine anywhere! After a few seconds I showed my daughter my closet space. I have A LOT!!! And that would only make sense since my apartment is the half of a three bedroom apartment. Honestly, I think I have more closet space than some of the two bedroom apartments in this building. Three of my four closets have built in shelves floor to ceiling. In the largest I have TWO shelving units and the built in shelves! I have a lot of storage space. Unlike some tenants in this building, I don’t have to pay for storage. ;D

I work those closets and everything in them, or well, everything in my apartment is ergonomically correct. Everything! The once perfectly organized closets need a bit help.  I think it’ll take about thirty minutes to get all four of them back in the same or better shape.

There are cameras everywhere, my hydro is included, and that saves me A LOT of money. ALL of my furniture fits perfectly and my rent is well, reasonable. That’s why I LOVE my apartment. Most of my neighbours are okay so that helps.

There are parks, bike trails nearby. I know all of the sales cycles for the necessities, all the clerks of the stores I frequent know me. More importantly they know how and why I shop. That’s a feat!  I know the best cashiers and always make a point of standing in their lines.

Yes, I am VERY comfortable living in my apartment. Who wouldn’t be? Exactly! ;D

So where am I going with all of this? Who, outside of me cares about my apartment, its location and anything else? Probably no one today, but my next blog should explain a few things.

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
