Hi Everyone,
Today as I was out and about, doing my thing, I saw someone from my past in the most unlikely of places. Just as surprised to see me, the first words out of her mouth were, “Oh I was on Facebook or LinkedIn and that’s great that your an actress.” My bored response was, “I am not on FaceBook, you must have seen that on LinkedIn. And yea, it’s cool.” I am in film as an Extra, aka Back Ground Performer or Atmosphere.
I do what I am asked, and I don’t think its a big deal. What I do think is a big deal though is that she was creeping, lurking, trolling or whatever it is called, through one our mutual friends LinkedIn accounts and was reading up on me! Not cool!
This is especially true since that person has over 250 LinkedIn connections. How much time did she waste searching through LinkedIn? Since I have little to no interest in doing that, I am guessing a lot. Anyway… (Here’s a link to a related blog, http://arebelsrant.com/catfishing-and-social-media/ )
If I wanted her to know anything about me, we would have kept in touch. And we haven’t kept in touch, because well, I would rather invest my time with people other than her. It’s not that I don’t like her, I am indifferent. I was polite/civil when we spoke. It was a very short conversation. This is why.
Just as I didn’t want her to know what I do, I also didn’t want all of the other people around us to know either. Yes, I REALLY enjoy my privacy. I allow few people into my life and even fewer into my apartment. And right now, my apartment could use some attention. 🙂
Its been a draining day, and I have a busy day tomorrow. My apartment will have to wait. But I always make time to maintain my privacy.
