The Future Of Food–Links

Hi Everyone,

No one that I know, or have spoken to has heard of the two part documentary titled, The Future of Food. In fact, I gave up speaking about the economic and physical effects, etc. of food production years ago because any time I mentioned this documentary, everyone that I did speak with, looked at me like I had seven heads!

I don’t know if people thought I was making everything up as I went along, or if they just didn’t want to know. And to tell you the truth, there are times when I would like to know less about a lot of things, including this. Ignorance is bliss, but bliss is folly. Folly is never good.

If this documentary, for a lack of  better words, freaks you out, don’t worry. I was freaked out by some things the first time I saw it almost 4 years ago. Some things in this documentary still freak me out. This is especially true with the horse meat scandal. It is one food scandal that we now know of.

Knowledge is power only if we decide to do something with the knowledge we currently have. As an information junkie, I strongly believe that we should all try to inform not only ourselves but those around us too. Here is something that I noticed.

The cost of food is going up. Just yesterday it was reported that there is more water in canned food than there used to be. Food packages for yogurt, cereal etc. have gotten smaller while the price has gone up.

Here are the links in order,

The first part is 51:52 minutes in length and the second is 52:14. I HIGHLY recommend everyone to watch these and tell anyone who you think would benefit from watching them too. This documentary was produced in 2008 and I saw it in 2009. A lot has changed.

Yesterday’s blog was an introduction to today’s. If you would like to read it and watch the video, here is a link, http://arebelsrant.com/food-inc-link/

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
