Hi Everyone,

Today is the last of the ten day stretch of TIFF. This year it began on September 5th. For anyone who doesn’t already know, TIFF stands for the Toronto International Film Festival. It began in 1976. In the last 38 years, TIFF has grown to some would say, larger than the Cannes and Sundance film festivals. The reason for this is because TIFF is a very audience driven festival. And Canadians, especially Torontonians are known to being warm and friendly film buffs.  ;D

This year TIFF would have screened 366 films from 70 different countries. So yes, TIFF is definitely growing every year. There were screenings all over the city. Hotels were booked months in advance and were full. For anyone who wondered, the hotels charge almost double for their rooms during TIFF. Restaurants and cafes across the city were busy at all hours of the day.  I actually know of two people who have had their films screened at TIFF which was a great launching pad for their careers.

Interestingly the other night as I was watching a movie I borrowed from the library, it was at TIFF and was awarded for something I can’t remember. The reason I don’t remember what the film was awarded is because as I read the award, all I saw was, Toronto Film Festival, not the Toronto International Film Festival. That kind of pissed me off. One would think that if a movie was awarded something, that the producers would get the name of the festival right. Or at least that is my thinking anyway.

Since today is the last day of the festival, I hope that everyone in film who wanted to be at TIFF made it.

Here are some pictures of some of the stars that attended this year. There are a lot of pictures of Brad Pitt is anyone is interested. Just saying.
