Hi Everyone,
Winter is not officially here but there are some parts of the country that believe that it is. And with those thoughts come old habits. This is what I mean.
One thing that a lot of us do is stay indoors more when the weather is colder. I know I do. That’s why winter is my fourth favourite season. But even I try to get out a bit more every time winter is here or approaching, to exercise. Walking is and has always been my first choice because I can start and stop whenever I want.
Another thing that a lot of us do is find our comfort foods to make us feel better when the weather gets us down. This like everything else in life is fine within moderation. Unfortunately not all of us have the discipline to stop ourselves from eating potato chips, cookies, cookie dough, ice cream, etc. Even I’m eating cookies this year but I have a trick to stop me when I want to stop myself.
The first thing I do is buy cookies that I LOVE and are individually wrapped or packaged in twos and store them in the fridge. The reason for this is that the cookies stay fresh longer so I am not tempted to eat the whole box. With the cookies being packaged in twos, not only do I have to open the package to get to the cookies, I leave the wrapper on the counter so I can SEE exactly how many cookies, or packages, I’ve eaten. Just for the record, I still have three packages of two cookies each and I bought that box over a month ago. There are only 10 packages of cookies per box by the way.
The most important thing I do any time of the year is stick to my eating habit of a HUGE breakfast, medium sized lunch and small dinner. The reason for this is the old European saying of, “Eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch and a peasant for dinner.” For anyone who doesn’t know what I mean, here’s the link to that blog, http://arebelsrant.com/king-prince-and-peasant/
So is this a blog on self-examination? Yes, I just want to ease everyone into self-examination because the next few blogs will not be so kind. Just saying!
