As we all (should) know, the Universe just keeps on giving to those who are willing to receive. I am very willing. ;D
This blog has been on my mind for a while. I wasn’t really sure how to write it so I decided against it. That is of course until yesterday.
While I was putting on my make-up I was also listening to an interview. I missed the first few minutes of it so I am not really sure who the interviewer was interviewing but I listened anyway.
I know this interviewer and he can be a bit tough on the people he is interviewing. Like downright mean. After some time the interviewee was getting pissed off in that polite way that people have about themselves when their reputation is being attacked and at stake kind of way.
Just as I thought the interviewee was going to blow a gasket, he begins defending himself by saying, “I am….I am….I am….I am….and I am not going to defend myself any further!”
After the first, “I am…,” I stopped applying my make-up and listened very carefully as I walked into my living room. I wanted to see the interviewee again. I also wanted to see his facial expressions as he controlled his rage.
The interview ended in the usual polite stiffness it always does.
About an hour later, I was in a store speaking with a woman I know quite well. As we were speaking she said, “I am…..I am…..” Before I told her about the interview, I decided to write this blog.
Eminem spits/sings, (pick your lingo but just for the record it is spit) a song titled, “The Way I Am.” In it he repeatedly defends himself. I have included two links at the bottom of this blog.
If anyone is shocked that I listen to Eminem, then I strongly, NO, I VERY STRONGLY recommend that they refrain from educating themselves on why Congolese soldiers have been and continue to use rape as a weapon in their civil war.
Even I was taken aback by one sentence. The segment was over 7 minutes long. If one sentence did that to me, I highly doubt that anyone who is shocked that I listen to Eminem would be able to handle 2 sentences. Just saying.
