Hi Everyone,
My (work) day is pretty, well, boring. This is what I mean.
I get up between 5-6 am (yes I now sometimes sleep in until 6 am now) without an alarm. Then I lie in bed long enough to guess what time it is, get up and start working. The first thing I do is head to my laptop and do what I call, “the usual.” It entails reading and printing things off. (Yawn.)
After that I make coffee, read, blog, watch TV and wait for the free paper if I get up before 6 am because it arrives at about 6 am. That’s when I leave my apartment and check the weather.
Once I have it, I (hopefully) finish my blog and start eating breakfast. I eat breakfast all morning. I also start exercising stopping once in a while to read, watch TV or surf the Internet only to start exercising again.
I try to get into the shower by 9:30 am at the latest. I would like, sometimes, love to have a shower when I get up, but I don’t. It’s a bit of a story, but the gist of it is, I share the hot water heater with the woman next door. She works all week and I, for the most part, work from home.
One night she knocked on my door and asked I had a shower before she did. Since I did, her shower was ice cold. Now I don’t know about you, but I LOVE hot showers. Just the thought of having shampoo in my hair and then suddenly having the water go to ice cold doesn’t appeal to me. That is why I wait to have a shower.
Anytime I think I may need to shower before her, I let her know the night before. I am a BICTH, not bitchie. There’s a VAST difference. (If you don’t know what I mean, check out the blog I posted on February 11, 2013, called, The Bitch Books. Here is the link, http://arebelsrant.com/the-bitch-books-d/)
Then I watch TV until 11. Sometimes during commercials, I’ll start scanning the channels for descriptions of TV shows that I might find interesting. After all, I am an information junkie. When I do find one or more topics of interest, I begin to schedule my day around them. A lot of people do, I just admit it. So don’t judge. (In fact, I can cite at least one VERY famous person who did that for years to get him through the day. He was not an information junkie like me though.)
The scheduling of my day can be tricky. Because I know some of the shows well, I can squeeze a lot of work in, if I time everything right. That is, or can be, stressful since I hate wasting my time. I try to use every second. (Here’s a link to a past blog called, Being An Information Junkie Can Be Stressful, http://arebelsrant.com/being-an-information-junkie-can-be-stressful/ )
Sometimes I read during the parts of the program I have no interest in but I always read during commercials. Other times, like yesterday, I sat in front of my laptop and worked. This is easily done because my desk faces the TV. I simply mute and un-mute programs all the time.
For the parts of the show I want to know about, I un-mute the TV and eat, or tidy up. It is rare that I actually sit down on my couch and watch something. With my being an information junkie for over 3 decades, everything I hear now is pretty much a repeat of what I have heard before. The reason I listen to programs is just in case there is something new. It happens.
Periodically, I will check my Twitter and an email account. One email is through my cell phone and it normally alerts me if I have a new email. Of course it didn’t do that one morning and it was important so that went for a bit of a flip. Anyway, ….. ;D
And that is how I conduct my (work) day if I don’t have laundry, have errands to run or if the Ex doesn’t call. I work, read, or whatever from about 5/6 am to about 9/10 pm, Monday to Friday. Weekends are a bit lighter, so that is nice.
I will admit that when sheer boredom does kick in, I do take some time to entertain myself. One way for me to do that is by dancing and singing to loud music. 😀
See I told you my (work) day is pretty, well, boring.
Thank you for reading A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
