Chinese New Year–The Year of the Dog

Hi Everyone,

If you need a reason to start your year over again, today is the day.  This is what I mean.

Today is the Chinese New Year. Just like astrology there are 12 signs, or in this case animals. In astrology each sign represents about thirty days whereas each animal in the Chinese Zodiac represents about a year. This year the animal is a dog, or as it is said, The Year of the Dog. But here’s the thing, their year isn’t like ours how it starts on January first. The Chinese begin their (new) year according to the moon so their new year starts and thereby ends at different times each year. It is not as complicated as it sounds. I am not blogging about the The Year of the Dog to strain anyone’s brain. I am blogging about The Year of the Dog because it’s different, and it gives anyone who thinks they need a new start on the year a chance to do. Let’s face it, life gives us curve balls and sometimes it takes guts to keep on keeping on, or as one of my friends likes to say, “Keep the faith”.

I know several men born during The Year of the Dog. Most are older yet even the ones who are younger have a certain wisdom.  Each has contributed to shaping my life in a positive way and I am very grateful that they entered my life when they did. It’s weird you know how they just nail, know what is really going on behind the scenes. People born in The Year of the Dog have given me the best advice ever. And for that I am very grateful.

When I need help helping myself there are times when I can still hear their advice including their tone. One in particular would sound gruff. Interestingly he had the best advice ever! And he, like all people born in The Year of the Dog, is an interesting person with a different perspective.

There are The Year of the Dog celebrations this weekend in China Town here in Toronto. Check them out from 12-5. For anyone who doesn’t live in Toronto, an online search will point you in the right direction.

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant and I hope everyone has a great Year of the Dog!  ;D

P.S. It’s never too late to re-start your year and this is a fun start.
