Life Is So Much… ;D

Hi Everyone,

Happy Sunday! Today’s blog is a bit on the lighter side but it should still make you think. This is what I mean.

The other day I was just thinking that life is so much easier now, than when I was growing up. Transportation like buses, trains, subways are more frequent and passenger friendly. When I was growing up, if I wanted a bus I had to call up the, “Dial A Bus”. It came within the hour and the bus driver expected you to be ready and waiting or the bus would leave without you.

If I wanted to read or research something I had to go the library, ask one of the librarians for a reference book, and hope that the information I needed was up to date enough for me to get my assignment done. I could find my own books to read, so that worked out well. Now everything is at our finger tips and we can type any kind of information we think we may need from our homes, or our cell phones. We can also distract ourselves from (our) reality anytime we want too. But for those of us who want to get ahead all it takes is discipline to get us to where we want and need to go.

You want to watch and/or listen to a webinar? All you have to do is sign up. Most webinars are free and you can schedule them to fit into your life. Most podcasts are also free. This is a far cry from when everyone had to travel and pay to get new information. You want to learn something and a webinar you are looking for isn’t available? Not to worry, almost everything can also be found on YouTube. That’s free and easy to access 24/7/365. Podcasts are generally free as long as you decided to subscribe. Well, okay you have to pay for the Internet, but even that is so much cheaper today than it was when the Internet first came out, or was made public, I should say.

Did you miss your favourite show? All you have to do now is find it on another channel by time-shifting. If that doesn’t work, just wait until it shows up on Rogers on Demand or PVR your show beforehand. The library has a great selection of popular shows on DVD’s if you don’t want to buy the box set.

Those are only some examples of how are lives are so much easier now, than they were 15 years before. If you don’t believe me than you are younger than most, but it’s true. So before you decide to think that your life is tough, that you got a bunch of bad breaks, just remember this blog. Life is so much easier today, than even 5 years ago, never mind 15 years.
