“Opposites Attract And Then They….”

Hi Everyone,

When people discuss relationships of any kind, a lot of people automatically think of the saying, “Opposites attract.” Unfortunately, what a lot of people don’t know is the second part of that saying, because it is the most important. This is what I mean.

The whole saying is, “Opposites attract, and then they attack!” Don’t believe me if you want but not only is that the whole saying, it is also very true. And if you think about it, it makes sense because we, as humans are attracted to something different than ourselves. Different excites us, different makes us think, and different makes us feel young, alive. And really if we wanted something in another person that was the exact same as ourselves, we might as well have friends like us, be dating ourselves or, for that matter not even have friends or date at all.

But do we really want to date, or have a relationship of any kind with someone who is so much of an opposite of ourselves, or do we want to have some level of commonality? In my opinion, we want and need to have some common ground.

You see, when we are completely opposite from someone, than there is no common ground, but if someone else has some of the same interests as us, we should be okay right? In my opinion, having the same interests is not enough. We, as humans, should need and want to have someone in our life that shares the same values, moral compass, and ethics as us.

If we don’t have the same values, moral compass, and ethics as our opposite, our opposite will attack us. They have to, because they will eventually disagree with us based on their values, moral compass, and ethics which conflict with ours.  And when that happens, it is game over!

If you’ve ever had a friend or a relationship with someone whose core values are different than yours should know what I mean. If not, than you are either lucky or you clearly haven’t been paying attention! For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention, here’s a head’s up.

If you are constantly arguing with someone over something that doesn’t sit well with you, or if someone is constantly disrespecting you, then, in my opinion, chances are pretty good, someone needs to have their values, moral compass, and ethics checked! Who knows, that person, may be you! Just saying!
