Why I HATE Shopping!

Hi Everyone,

One of the many, and I do mean, MANY reasons I hate shopping was brought to my attention on Tuesday.  I have blogged about shopping before in, I’m Like A Man When, here’s the link, http://arebelsrant.com/im-like-a-man-when/ But I have to tell you, Tuesday was pretty bad.

On Tuesday, I had a pretty good day. Since I was going to walk through the air conditioned mall to get out of the heat I thought I’d make a pit stop at a store. Now you have to recognize that this is one of the only stores that I shop at and I only really visit it about 5-6 times a year. The times that I do visit that store are generally at the tail end of one of their MASSIVE sales or at around Christmas because that prevents me from investing too much in clothes. My shopping behavior, because that is EXACTLY what it is controls my impulse shopping.

I have LOVED this store the moment I discovered it about 12 years. It always has hip clothes that are reasonably priced, aka, super cheap, it always has my size and from all the years of my shopping there, I have only left discouraged about 4 times. So yea, the store has a very high success rate for meeting my needs. Normally I am in and out of that store in less than 30 minutes and have enough clothes for about 3-4 months. Of course, there is always the exception. This is what I mean.

When I went to my favorite store, I actually needed to buy some new pants. Since the tail end of the MASSIVE summer sale still had pants displayed at the front of the store, I chose about 5 pairs, thinking that at least 3 would fit me properly. Only one pair did. A size small is too big for me. Off I went in search of an extra small. ALL of them were also too big for me! I was pissed off! With only 7 pairs of summer pants, 4 of which are out-dated, I NEEDED pants!

When I went to pay, I told the cashier about my dilemma. Her response was that the store had changed their sizing. What was once a medium is a small and a small is now an extra small. I thought, “Great! Now where am I going to shop?”

The next day, I met a woman who is the same size as me, I told what happened, and asked her where she shopped. I didn’t like her answer. It was second hand stores and the children’s section. I have done both and I don’t like it. Second-hand books, furniture, sports equipment etc, I can deal with. Second-hand clothes, shoes, handbags freak me out! I am a grown woman used and children’s clothing is OUT.

So do I break down and shop at the stores that I believe are over-priced? Highly unlikely! Somehow I’ll manage. The woman I spoke to said that the only thing that she can fit into is skirts. Interestingly, I had the same thought 10 minutes before I met her. I even told her that and we had a good laugh about it too.

So where EXACTLY am I going to buy pants on the cheap? Where EXACTLY am I going to find PANTS that fit me? I don’t know. Should I start wearing more skirts and dresses? Maybe. While I’m at it, I may as well start wearing more heels. I don’t know. But I do know that I HATE shopping so I won’t be doing that for a while!

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
