Hi Everyone,
The first time I read Steve Harvey’s book, Act Like A Lady, Think Like A Man, with the subtitle, What Men Really Think About Love, Relationships, Intimacy, and Commitment was in April 2009. Since I was having a bit of an issue with the Ex, and it was a week before my birth and name day, which is when I do my annual relationship reading, I decided to reread the above book. While reading, I realized a few things. This is what I mean.
I like, a lot of men, HATE shopping, drama, and gossiping. And yes I have blogged about them and I have links at the bottom of this blog. But there were a few other things that I noticed about myself. Even before I read this book, and I wanted to get my point across when speaking with my daughter, I would tell her, “Let me bottom line this for you…” For anyone who doesn’t know men like to bottom line things. Men also like to fix things and solve problems. Now since I have always been a single mother, I was the only one in our household to fix things and solve any problems. If my daughter came home and told me something like, “…and then this happened,…” I would tell her, “…don’t do that again,” or “…don’t wear that again…”So yes, I really do think like a man. I attribute this to being a single mother and raising my daughter on my own.
But then I recognized that men interpret things differently. And that they have a few differences in language. Things I never would have thought of. They were a bit of an eye-opener. All in all, I would recommend this book because it is a man’s perspective on relationships. I recognized a few things that I could improve on and let’s face it that rarely hurts.
