“Have We (Just) Met?”

Hi Everyone,

Well, it is the day before Christmas and we all know what that means. A lot of us will be seeing people who rub us the wrong way. If we are lucky, it will only be one person. If we are not, more than one person will try, if not succeed, to get under all seven layers of our skin. If that happens to you, you will most likely ask yourself, as I have, “Have we met?” If someone really pisses me off, I have asked them, “Have we just met?” I generally don’t use a soft tone. A soft tone with a smile is my way of horsing around with a serious touch. A harsh tone means I mean business, which generally translates into a lot of things not made with sugar and spice and all things nice.

So what do we do when people think, and/or believe that they know us when they really don’t? What do we do when people start telling us about ourselves that aren’t who we really are?  What do you say to someone during the holidays, or not, to just mind their own business and leave you alone?

I’ve tried a variety of angles. The success rates vary. Everyone is different. People’s moods change. Better, worse, or moderate never give anyone a fighting chance when someone else has made a point of focusing all of their energy on someone else’s life. Sometimes it is just easier to give up, hang up, or in extreme cases stop associating and speaking with them altogether.

But then I came across a few videos of, “The Work.” Personally I found the first one really funny. So did the people in the audience, Byron Katie and the person who was doing, “The Work”. I have included that link at the bottom of today’s blog. The second link is the same person doing, The Work. Both are short.

So the point of today’s blog is if you can’t get someone who thinks they know you to shut up, leave you alone and no one is helping you in your cause, mention this blog, “The Work” or both. It might make the next holiday more bearable. Of course, you have to been speaking with someone other than the, “Supposed Sane People” because all they want to do is drive everyone insane. The second video touches on why.

Bryon Katie has a YouTube video for so many topics, one is sure to meet your needs.  Here are the links,

This one is called, My Mother Needs a Dog. Give it 20-24 seconds. You’ll know what I mean. It is 4:52 minutes in length.

This one is called, She Just Won’t Listen. It is more serious but is 3:44 minutes in length. Again, it is with the same person as the first video.

Merry Christmas Everyone! I won’t be blogging for a few days, so there’s your head’s up. Have a great one, walk and drive carefully and drink responsibly.
