Really Little Miss Know-It-All?

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday as I was scanning through one of two free newspapers I quickly read a headline, made a comment and gave the article to someone to read. HUGE and I mean HUGE MISTAKE. This is why.

For one, I ONLY read the headline. I decided not to read the article, because I thought the article would be pretty much what I heard on a TV interview a few days before. I mean let’s face it, 99% of the time topics of that nature don’t change. And I was scanning the newspapers for anything to do with Cyprus because of the rapid changes.

Even though I have been following Cyprus for days, on every channel I pay for, (I sometimes wish I paid for Bloomberg), I still want to know what other people think about what is going to happen to Cyprus, the EU and why. My semi-obsession with Cyprus is finally starting to wane. My semi-obsession with the EU is still strong, though.

Anyway, after a few seconds, I gave up on scanning both newspapers and began talking. About two hours later, I decided to read the newspaper article that I gave to someone to read. Whoa, that article was NOTHING like I thought it would be. It was SO FAR OFF from the TV interview that I had to read the article twice just to make sure I read it correctly. It was THAT different. And because it was THAT different, I told someone just how embarrassed and stupid I felt for suggesting that someone read an article that I never read.

I don’t know what I was thinking when I did that, but it’s clear that I wasn’t thinking. Lessons learned!?! I hope so. I mean how I can be an informed information junkie when I am asking, or in this case, pretty much telling someone to read an article that I know nothing about. I went from information asset to information #$%hole in less than 4 seconds! Not cool! But at least I can admit it.

From here on, I will read ALL newspaper articles before I ask, or in this case pretty much tell, someone to read them and I will keep my comments to myself too.

If anyone hasn’t figured it out, I am ranting at my own stupidity, which makes this a rant. I may know a lot about a lot of things, yet, in this case, I obviously didn’t know enough to check the facts before I presented them.

On a side note, I did post a blog titled, Being Right. Here is the link, http://arebelsrant.com/being-right/

Thank you for reading, A. Rebel’s Rant! ;D
