Hi Everyone,
This blog has been on my mind for a while. The reason is that a lot of people either react to or act on life. Then of course there are some people who do nothing and wouldn’t say shit if their mouths were full of it! Others, well, that is for the next blog. Here’s today’s.
When people are reacting to life it is because they are in crisis mode. Being in crisis mode can go one of two ways. The first is that something negative is happening in one’s life. It could be something that they screwed up, due to, for example, their procrastination, someone could have screwed up and now they have to “fix” someone else’s mistake before things get a lot worse, it could be because someone is trying to put the screws to them or they have experienced a natural disaster. The above are the negative examples of reacting to life that move us backwards, put us behind the eight ball.
The second is that something good to great is happening in a life making this type of crisis a positive. But in order to move forward, people have to address the negative aspects of their life by reacting to it. Here’s an example.
Monday’s, well, I can’t trust that day. Monday’s, for me, are interesting. I can sit at my desk mapping out my whole day and week and then in the span of 20-30 minutes something happens. Everything I planned on doing has gone for a flip and I am trying not to mentally flip out. Fortunately, lately, that something has been good to great. When something good to great is happening, I can have a lot of juggling to do to get everything done so I can do or participate in the good to great. That is an example of being in a positive crisis mode. I am reacting to life so I can act on it.
Unfortunately, a negative crisis mode can have the ability to strip anyone of their good to great, positive opportunities because they are desperately trying to keep everything together. This is because they are in a true crisis. There is no way out. If they stop, they lose. If they keep fighting the good fight they miss out on the good to great things life has to offer. This type of crisis mode negatively affects our overall well being. It affects us physiologically. That is never a good thing. But it must be done!
But here is something that I always try to keep in mind when I am reacting to vs. acting on life, I am learning something. I am growing. I may not always like it, in fact sometimes I hate it, but I am still moving forward even if it is a millimetre at a time. And that’s what counts!
I still believe that, “All roads lead to Rome.” Some roads may be longer, bumpier, and like some people more twisted than others, but everything we learn, everything we do, helps us. It may not be today, tomorrow, next week or even next year, but everything helps. It also helps to pick your poison. An example of this is picking the people you chose to have in your life and knowing why. If you allow it, some of them will have you reacting to life and not acting on life, your life.
